A classic view of St. Paul's Cathedral

This view of St. Paul's Cathedral is taken from King Henry's Mound, the highest point in Richmond Park 10 miles away. Since 1710 the view from this point has been protected, preventing any developments that would obscure the cathedral. However, in 2005 Mayor Ken Livingstone sought to reduce the protection from one-and-a-half dome widths to a half-a-dome width. Subsequently, Mayor Boris Johnson promised to overturn this, but also approved a development at Victoria Station that would obscure the right hand corner (source: Wikipedia).
