A cull would be very difficult in urban areas and I just don't see it happening.GrahamPhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12629488368799231669noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5060750637457717835.post-68516895142029002022010-10-18T06:35:12.740-07:002010-10-18T06:35:12.740-07:00The ring-necked parakeet isn't a native bird. ...The ring-necked parakeet isn't a native bird. It arrived sometime back in the late 60s or thereabouts. Nobody quite knows how it got here; there is a story (undoubtedly apocryphal) that Jimi Hendrix kept parakeets and they escaped, leading to the population we have now. In London and the South East the parakeet population has exploded in recent years, to the extent that there is a concern that they could be endangering the survival of other birds. There may well be a cull of the birds to keep the population down:<br />http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/news/article-23389796-cull-of-the-parakeets.doDavid Hardmanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05250790633865981653noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5060750637457717835.post-47905769977050391992010-10-18T06:19:01.508-07:002010-10-18T06:19:01.508-07:00I did not know that you have parrots in UK!
